Product Description
The tube bundle is the replaceable core of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger on the Wärtsilä 32: a pack of thin tubes through which one medium flows, while the other medium passes around the outside, transferring heat between the two. This type of insert is used in coolers where a large exchange surface is needed within a compact housing.
Internal fouling between the tubes, or scaling inside the tubes themselves, gradually reduces heat transfer, which often only becomes apparent once the associated temperature has been running slightly too high for some time. If the tube plate develops a leak, the two separated media can also start mixing with each other.
