Product Description
The cylinder head of the Wärtsilä 32 is made of grey cast iron and is cooled intensively through channels running radially from the periphery to the centre, precisely where the thermal load is highest: the flame plate. A strong intermediate deck, together with the upper deck and the side walls, forms a closed box section, with the hydraulically tightened cylinder head bolts located in its four corners.
The exhaust valve seats are directly water-cooled and, like the valve seat rings, are made of a specially alloyed cast iron. HFO versions use Nimonic exhaust valves, while the inlet valves have stellite-plated seat faces and chromium-plated stems; every valve is fitted with a rotator to promote even wear.
The multiduct casting is also mounted on the Wärtsilä 32's cylinder head, bringing together charge air, exhaust gas and cooling water in a single unit. Toes Group supplies cylinder heads for all configurations, new and reconditioned, including inspection of the valve seats and cooling channels.
