Product Description
The cylinder jacket surrounds the liner of the Wärtsilä 32 and, using distribution rings, spreads the cooling water evenly around the upper part of the liner, exactly where combustion heat is greatest. The lower part of the liner is deliberately left dry, concentrating heat removal on the zone where it is actually needed.
A jacket that no longer distributes flow evenly allows local hot spots to form on the liner, increasing the risk of bore polishing even though the liner itself carries an anti-polishing ring to counter this. Deformation or deposit build-up in the jacket's water channels is therefore one of the first things we check during reconditioning.
