Product Description
Unlike on smaller engine types, the centrifugal filter on the Wärtsilä 32 is not the main filter but a secondary stage: it specifically cleans the back-flushing oil released from the automatic main filter. This keeps that portion of the oil, which would otherwise be lost, usable and clean.
Because this filter continuously handles a relatively small partial flow, the correct rotational speed of the drum is decisive for the result: if the drum turns too slowly, fine contaminants remain in the back-flush oil. A reconditioning inspection therefore focuses not just on contamination, but above all on the mechanical condition of the shaft, bearings and nozzles.
