Product Description
A multiduct casting is fitted to the cylinder head of the Wärtsilä 32, bringing together three separate media: charge air from the air receiver, exhaust gas to the exhaust system, and cooling water flowing from the cylinder head to the return pipe. A single casting therefore serves three fully separate circuits.
Precisely because these three media differ so widely in temperature, the multiduct is exposed to large local temperature differences within one and the same component. A slowly developing crack doesn't always show up as a single symptom, but may appear as a slight loss of charge pressure, a small drop in cooling water level, or both at once.
