Wärtsilä 32 Piston
Product Description
The piston of the Wärtsilä 32 is a composite design: a nodular cast iron skirt combined with a steel crown. The skirt is pressure-lubricated, ensuring a controlled flow of oil to the liner under almost all operating conditions, while the piston itself is cooled via the connecting rod according to what is known as the cocktail-shaker principle.
The ring grooves in the piston crown are hardened against wear, but precisely because the piston carries both heavy mechanical and thermal loads, its overhaul interval spans a wide range: depending on fuel quality, indicative intervals run from roughly 12,000 to 24,000 running hours, with an expected technical service life that can extend several times further beyond that.
Toes Group supplies pistons for the Wärtsilä 32 in all in-line and V-configurations, new and reconditioned, with precision measurement of the skirt, crown and ring grooves before the part leaves our premises.
