Product Description
The main lube oil pump on the Wärtsilä 32 is driven directly by the engine, is of the gear type, and is fitted with a pressure control valve. The pump is sized to deliver sufficient oil volume even at low engine speed, which is no small feat on an engine of this medium-speed class.
Wear to this pump's gears usually doesn't trigger an immediate alarm, but instead shows up as a gradually declining oil pressure that only really becomes noticeable at full load. Because the main pump runs continuously whenever the engine is running, its condition directly determines the service life of almost every bearing in the engine.
