Product Description
The tube bundle is the replaceable heart of a shell-and-tube heat exchanger on the Wärtsilä 34: a compact pack of thin tubes through which one medium flows while the other passes around the outside via the shell. This type of bundle is used wherever a large exchange surface is needed within a limited space.
On an engine where cooling demand shifts somewhat between operating modes, a gradually declining heat transfer isn't always immediately recognised as a fault: it's often only noticed once a given temperature has been running slightly too high for some time. A leak between the tube plate and the tubes themselves can also cause the separated media to mix.
