Wärtsilä 34 Cylinder liner
Product Description
The cylinder jacket of the Wärtsilä 34 surrounds the upper collar of the liner and uses bore-cooling: fine, drilled cooling channels that remove heat precisely where the thermal load is greatest. The lower part of the liner stays dry, in line with the design also used on other engines in this product line.
This bore-cooling arrangement is more sensitive to local blockage than a simpler water distribution ring, because the channels are smaller and more numerous; a single blocked channel can be enough to create a hot spot on the liner, raising the risk of bore polishing even though the liner itself carries an anti-polishing ring. Cleaning and flow-checking these channels therefore deserve explicit attention during reconditioning.
Toes Group keeps cylinder jackets for the Wärtsilä 34 in stock and available reconditioned for all configurations. Contact our specialists if you're unsure about the condition of yours.
