Product Description
The cylinder head of the Wärtsilä 34 carries four valves per cylinder: two inlet and two exhaust, all fitted with valve rotators. A strong intermediate deck, together with the upper deck and side walls, forms a closed box section, with the hydraulically tightened cylinder head bolts located in its four corners.
A distinctive feature of this engine is the multiduct interface on the head: thanks to this design, the cylinder head can be lifted without having to disconnect the gas, air and water piping separately, which considerably speeds up maintenance on a dual-fuel installation. It's precisely these mating surfaces that need extra attention during assembly, since a leak here can affect both the gas side and the cooling water side.
