Product Description
The piston moves up and down in the cylinder liner and, via the connecting rod, converts the pressure of combustion into mechanical work. Piston ring, piston crown and piston pin must be precisely matched to each other and to the liner to prevent leakage losses, oil consumption and overheating.
The piston is one of the most heavily loaded components in the engine: it absorbs the full combustion pressure and temperature on every stroke. Wear to the piston rings or damage to the piston crown reduces compression and increases oil consumption, and in the case of serious damage can lead to engine seizure.
