Product Description
The Wärtsilä Vasa 32 is the older generation in the 320 mm bore class, and at Toes Group it's still identified by its classic 'R' designation for the in-line versions: 4R32, 6R32, 8R32 and 9R32, alongside the V-versions 12V32, 16V32 and 18V32. The engine block is cast in one piece, with both the charge air receiver and the cooling water distribution duct integrated directly into the casting.
A defining feature of this generation is that every main bearing cap has its own hydraulic jack to lower and lift it for inspection, rather than the combined jack system used on later engines. The crankcase covers are made of light metal and sealed against the block with rubber gaskets, and the oil sump itself is a welded construction that also incorporates the oil pipe to the crankshaft bearings.
