Product Description
The camshaft of the Wärtsilä Vasa 32 is built up in sections and driven from the crankshaft through a gear train at the drive end; the overspeed trip device and the speed governor drive are typically mounted on the shaft at that same end.
Because this generation of engine is often already long in service, the risk of wear on the cam surface from reduced lubrication over the years is greater than on a more recent unit; a deviating cam profile in practice usually first shows up as a changed sound from the valve gear.
