Product Description
The cooling water pump of the Wärtsilä Vasa 32 circulates cooling water through the engine block, cylinder heads and charge air cooler. On this older engine generation the cooling system layout is generally simpler than on the newest Wärtsilä engines, but the functional requirement stays the same: a steady, sufficiently strong water flow to keep the engine within its operating temperature.
After years in service, scaling or deposit build-up inside the pump housing becomes a real concern on this generation of engine, especially where water treatment hasn't always been optimal in the past. This first shows up as a gradually declining output, long before the pump develops a visible leak.
