Product Description
The crankshaft of the Wärtsilä Vasa 32 is forged in one piece and, where necessary, balanced with counterweights to compensate for bearing loads from eccentric masses. The main bearings are fully interchangeable, made of tri-metal or bi-metal, and can each be removed individually thanks to the dedicated hydraulic jack under every main bearing.
On an engine of this age, the cumulative loading history of the crankshaft is often less well documented than on more recent units; precision measurement of crank pin diameters and alignment is therefore even more important to establish whether components are approaching the end of their service life or still comfortably within tolerance.
