Product Description
The gear drive at the free end of the MaK M25 consists of a gear train that keeps the camshaft, governor and mounted pumps turning in sync with the crankshaft. As the central link between the crankshaft and every time-critical system on the engine, this drive directly determines the correct timing of valve actuation and fuel injection.
Play or wear in the gears of this drive isn't always immediately audible, but it does gradually shift the timing of the camshaft and governor relative to the crankshaft; on an engine that has already accumulated many running hours, checking backlash specifically is therefore one of the first things we measure during reconditioning.
