Product Description
The connecting rod of the MaK M25 links the piston to the crankshaft and converts the piston's motion into the rotating motion that gives the engine its power. On this long-stroke engine, the 400 mm stroke is relatively long compared with the 255 mm bore, which makes the connecting rod sweep through a greater angle on every revolution than on a short-stroke engine of comparable bore.
That greater angular sweep translates into somewhat different lateral forces on the piston and bearing bushes than on a short-stroke design; inspecting the bearing bushes and the alignment between the big and small end is therefore a standard part of our reconditioning procedure for this engine type.
