The connecting rod pin forms the link between the piston and the top of the connecting rod, and has to transmit the piston's full combustion force across a relatively small contact surface. Correct fit and surface quality of this pin are therefore essential for trouble-free operation.
Wear or play on this pin is often one of the first signs of disrupted lubrication in the piston-to-connecting-rod connection, well before it becomes noticeable elsewhere in the engine. Precision measurement of the pin's diameter and surface is therefore a standard part of our inspection.
