Product Description
The connecting rod of the MAN 21/31 links the piston to the crankshaft and converts the piston's motion into the rotating motion that gives the engine its power. As part of the complete, removable cylinder unit, the connecting rod can be taken out of the engine together with the piston, liner and water jacket as a single assembly.
With a maximum combustion pressure of around 200 bar and a compression ratio of 15.5:1, the connecting rod on this engine is subject to considerable mechanical load; checking for cracks and verifying the dimensional accuracy of the bearing bushes is therefore a standard part of our reconditioning procedure.
