Product Description
The oil sump forms the bottom of the engine and serves as the reservoir for the lubricating oil of the Wärtsilä 26. From here, the oil is drawn up by the lube oil pump and circulated to every lubrication point in the engine, after which it collects back in the sump via return channels.
Damage, deformation or cracking of the oil sump can lead to oil leakage or, in the case of contamination by, for example, metal particles, to fouling of the entire oil circulation. Because the sump also contributes to the structural stiffness of the engine's lower structure, careful inspection for dimensions and cracks is important.
