Product Description
The cylinder block forms the foundation of the Wärtsilä 26 engine: it houses the cylinders and carries and aligns the crankshaft, camshaft and other drive components. As the structure that carries all forces generated during combustion, this large casting must be entirely free of cracks, porosity and dimensional deviations.
Because the cylinder block forms the base on which almost every other component is mounted, even small deviations in flatness or alignment carry through to the rest of the engine, from bearing clearance to the position of the cylinder liners. This is even more critical on the larger, heavier V-configurations of the Wärtsilä 26, where two banks of cylinders must be precisely aligned relative to each other.
