Product Description
The air cooler cools the air compressed by the turbocharger before it enters the cylinders. A lower air temperature means a higher air density and therefore better cylinder filling, which directly contributes to the power output and fuel efficiency of the Wärtsilä 26.
Fouling of the cooling fins or leakage in the cooling circuit reduces cooling capacity, resulting in a higher intake temperature, greater thermal load on the engine and higher fuel consumption. Regular cleaning and inspection of the air cooler is therefore one of the most cost-effective maintenance measures.
